Three-digit numbers are made of hundreds, tens and ones. To compare two numbers, look at the hundreds digit first; if they match, look at the tens; then the ones.

Which number is larger: 357 or 375?
Solution: Hundreds match (3 = 3). Tens: 5 < 7, so 375 is larger.
