Read through these first, then try the practice below.
Example 1 — Even share
A zoo has 24 animals divided equally into 4 cages. How many animals per cage?
Solution: 24 ÷ 4 = 6 animals per cage.
Example 2 — Remainder
There are 23 mangoes to share equally among 5 children. How many each, and how many leftover?
Solution: 23 ÷ 5 = 4 with remainder 3. Each child gets 4 mangoes; 3 are leftover.
