Example 1 — Total distance
A bus goes 25 km from town A to B, then 40 km from B to C. What is the total distance?
Solution: 25 + 40 = 65 km.
Example 2 — Trip duration
If a train leaves at 9:15 and reaches at 11:45, how long is the trip?
Solution: From 9:15 to 11:15 is 2 hours; from 11:15 to 11:45 is 30 minutes. Total: 2 hours 30 minutes.
