Chapter 2: Fractions
A fraction has a top number (numerator) and a bottom number (denominator). The bottom tells how many equal parts the whole is split into; the top tells how many parts we have.

Example 1 — Add like fractions
Find 2/7 + 3/7.
Solution: Denominators are the same, so add the tops: 2 + 3 = 5. Answer: 5/7.
Example 2 — Compare fractions
Which is bigger: 3/8 or 5/8?
Solution: Same denominator, so the bigger top wins: 5/8 > 3/8.
