Example 1 — Convert minutes to seconds
How many seconds are in 5 minutes?
Solution: 5 × 60 = 300 seconds.
Example 2 — Race times
Two runners finish at 1 minute 20 seconds and 1 minute 35 seconds. What is the difference?
Solution: 35 − 20 = 15 seconds.
